You Love My Art Dumps

I keep on neglecting to post here. FORGIVE ME!!

Character for a comic I'm working on. This fellow here is Dantrell. He is supposed to be around the age of 14, but I stink at drawing kids. Alike Keaton, he has a genetic mutation. His body heals his organ and arteries really fast. But his body just heals the major problems and will leave a very minor wound, which can take years to fully heal. This would be a problem if it wasn't for the fact that Dantrell's body is exploding with blood. He actually needs a steady amount of blood out or his blood pressure will get really high and he'll get some serious hemorrhage.

Basically he just tags along with Keaton, somewhat like a side kick. Over all he's just like any boy his age, really annoying and obnoxious. Keaton just kind of deals with it and usually saves his ass when Dantrell isn't using what little common sense he has.

Lyrics from the song give me someone I can trust by Voodoo Glow Skulls. Yes, it is Dantrell's theme song. I'm not that big on Voodoo Glow Skulls but I think that they fit Dantrell pretty well.

I hate drawing legs. They are a lot hard than they look.

The text is lyrics from the song Remember Me by the Zutons. Which I have decided is Keaton's theme song.

Yes, I did just draw pokemon fanart. It's actually really big for a marker drawing (11" by 14"). As soon as I get to making a frame for it I may either sell it on etsy or try ebay.

And to wrap this up nicely, I should inform you that I have finally put up a weekly web comic AquaPirates!

Single Page Comic

I punched four babies in the process of making this.
Thursday night I decided to challenge myself to make a single page comic. I spent a really long time just on the thumbnails because it's kind of hard to condense something to one page. Penciling and inking weren't that hard for me, but then came the coloring. I've never fully colored a comic page before so this was very new to me. Even with doing really fast cell shading the coloring took probably twice as long as the thumb nailing, penciling and inking. I have a new respect for people who do colored comics on their own now.

Anyway, I know that this doesn't make much sense with their stupid vocabulary, but just understand this: To them, "looting" is shop lifting. You can probably guess the rest. Their stupid appearances are a little more complex but I'll just leave it with saying they have "mutations". Yes, they are highly implausible mutations but I take joy in the amount of not real science people allow in pseudo sci-fi *coughxmencoughhack*

PS: The lack of character identification at the end was intentional.

Lacking

Man, I am not a responsible poster.

I keep on forgetting to post here. But I have a GOAL NOW!!

I finished my monster art series. Some came out a lot better than others, but it will all be in the crammed organisms art show
Crammed Organisms - World's Largest Plush Show! Plush, Stuffed Animals, Plushies, Softies

I also have started offering really cheap commissions. But for organization's sake I'll get more into that in the next post.

Monster Series WIP 1

I applied to take part in a really rad art show. Not going to say much about it until I find out if I'm accepted.

Each of these are 5x5 inches; there are going to be more in the series.
I just want to draw more of the series before I start painting.

You haven't missed much

I know, I know, my lamery seems to never end when it comes to updating here. I really haven't done much in the past month though. The most significant thing is my bookmark sale going on:

I'm going to need to raise some money by Easter. Normally I'd pick up a few extra shifts at my day job but I'm getting close to finals and then comes spring break. Working more hours when I'm already taking the maximum amount of credits at my school seems stupid, especially since I'm going to be in dead week soon. And during spring break I don't have a job and am thus not able to make money. I need just a little financial boost before Easter. So I'm going to offer bookmark commissions by donation. Recommended donation is $5, but you can donate more or less. Yes, they will be mailed out and I'm hoping that I'm not going to have to set a minimum donation.

All bookmarks will be painted with gouache paint on chipboard measuring 2 x 4.5 inches and given a thin layer of matte varnish to protect from natural wear and tear.

I am selling them as a flat rate $5 fee in my etsy store but I would like it more if people chose their own prices. If you would be so kind as to make a donation please e-mail me at octopuszombie at gmail.com with your address, how much you are going to donate, your preferred donation method (paypal, check or money order preferred), and what you would like on you bookmark.

An Attempt in Illustrator

I finished my first piece in illustrator. I quite like vector art and it's high time that I started applying it more to my work.

I did actually draw the image in traditional media but I converted it to a vector file using illustrator. Just use the live trace tool.

I have a few reasons as to why I would get into vector art. For starters I'm really weired with art that is digitally based. I really only like doing art on my computer that you can only do with a computer (mainly pixel art and vector art). I have nothing against digital painters, it just doesn't work for me. And second of all since this is vector art I can up the scale on my work hassle free. So if I feel like getting huge prints of my vector art made I could easily do it.
